The new snow really freshened things up on the trails. Currently we have both skate and classic tracks in place and are skiing on packed powder conditions. Enjoy the snow!
The trails held up well after the rain on Sunday.
Our groomers were out this morning and again this evening. It is still too firm to set a good classic track, however the skating lane currently features a frozen granular tilled surface.
With 2-3 inches of snow forecast for Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, conditions will continue to improve throughout the week, so we hope you will get out and enjoy the trails.
The trails held up very well to the rain showers and warm weather from Friday. Our dedicated team of groomers were out on Saturday morning, and again this morning tilling and re-grooming the trails for skate and classic skiing. Coverage is good with a firm and fast surface.
With snow forecast for tonight into Monday, and again on Wednesday, it is shaping up to be a great holiday week in Cole's Woods. We hope you will get out and enjoy some skiing and snowshoeing.
The trails were groomed this morning for both classic and skate skiing. The trails are firm and fast with tilled snow on top. Please watch for some icy spots and use caution on the downhill sections.
Thanks to our hard working and dedicated volunteer groomers, the trails are currently in great shape! They have re-groomed the skating lane, and also cut in a nice classic track. With warmer temperatures forecast for the weekend, now is the time to take advantage of some sweet skiing conditions. We hope you will all be able to get out and enjoy a great winter weekend in Cole's Woods!
The trails are groomed for skating and classic skiing, and are in terrific shape. Thank you to our volunteer groomers for all of their hard work!
Please be advised that a high school invitational ski race will be taking place on the trails from approximately 3:30 - 7:00 PM on Thursday January 31st. The trails are still open to the public, however we ask that you please be courteous and give way to the racers.
Today's snow has continued to improve conditions. Our volunteer groomers were out again this evening tilling the new snow into the existing base. With the colder temperatures forecast for tonight and tomorrow, conditions for skate and classic skiing will be very good.
The trails have been groomed for skating, and a track has been set for classic skiing. Most of the trail is in good shape, however there are a few icy areas, including spots by the YMCA and on the running track. Other than those areas, the skiing and coverage are generally good.
Also, just a reminder that the trail leading down the hill to the bridge at Dixon Court is closed from the top of the hill all the way out to Northop Drive. This is due to a water main break that took place earlier in the week. Please avoid that area until further notice.
Despite the rain, the snow pack in the woods has held up well. In order to allow it to dry out and firm up, we do not anticipate grooming until Saturday morning at the earliest. Please check back here over the weekend for complete details.
Also, a water main break in the area off Dixon Court has affected the southwest corner of the trails behind Dixon Court. That section of the trail has been closed temporarily, so please do not venture into that area until further notice.
