Today's snow has continued to improve conditions. Our volunteer groomers were out again this evening tilling the new snow into the existing base. With the colder temperatures forecast for tonight and tomorrow, conditions for skate and classic skiing will be very good.
The trails have been groomed for skating, and a track has been set for classic skiing. Most of the trail is in good shape, however there are a few icy areas, including spots by the YMCA and on the running track. Other than those areas, the skiing and coverage are generally good.
Also, just a reminder that the trail leading down the hill to the bridge at Dixon Court is closed from the top of the hill all the way out to Northop Drive. This is due to a water main break that took place earlier in the week. Please avoid that area until further notice.
Despite the rain, the snow pack in the woods has held up well. In order to allow it to dry out and firm up, we do not anticipate grooming until Saturday morning at the earliest. Please check back here over the weekend for complete details.
Also, a water main break in the area off Dixon Court has affected the southwest corner of the trails behind Dixon Court. That section of the trail has been closed temporarily, so please do not venture into that area until further notice.
Our volunteer groomers have been hard at work the last 24 hours.
The trails are currently groomed for both skate and classic skiing. The snow is still soft, but should continue to harden up with the cold temperatures forecast again tonight and into tomorrow.
We encourage you to get out and enjoy the trails!
Due to the heavy snowfall overnight, and the fact that it is still snowing hard as this report is being written, today our volunteer groomers will be concentrating primarily on packing down and rolling the trails.
At this time we do not anticipate having classic tracks and skating lanes in place until sometime on Monday January 21st.
In the interim, the snowshoeing should be excellent!
With the cold temperatures and early season snow we received today, we were able to go out and groom mid-morning. At this time the trails are rolled for skate skiing, and a classic track has also been set. We hope you have the opportunity to get out and enjoy some November skiing on the trails!
The full 5 km loop was rolled at mid-day today. It is groomed for skate skiing, however there is not enough of a base to set a classic track. Use caution as there are thin spots in some places.
The new snow we received yesterday was groomed out last night, and with the cooler temperatures the trails have set up for a great day of skiing.
With moderating temperatures forecast for today, it will be terrific for both classic and skate skiing.
Get out and enjoy it!
Despite the recent warm weather and rain showers, the base held up very well, and firmed up over night.
The trails were groomed this morning for skate skiing, and feature a firm base with machine tilled powder on top. The base will continue to soften as temperatures rise later in the day. A classic track is also set.
With a some light snow forecast for tonight, and moderate temperatures tomorrow, it is shaping up to be a great weekend of skiing and snow shoeing.
A special shout out to our awesome volunteer groomers who continue to do a fantastic job keeping the trails in top shape despite the weather.
Trails were groomed again late yesterday, and are in great shape for both skate and classic skiing. With warmer temperatures forecast for today and tomorrow, now is the time to get out and enjoy them!
