Our groomers were out last night and again today packing down the recent snow. Currently everything is groomed for skating and classic skiing. With more snow predicted on Wednesday into early Thursday, the conditions should be the best of the season heading into the weekend.
Due to thin cover and icy conditions, the Bill Koch Ski League and Adult Learn To Ski lessons have been cancelled for tonight.
The rain showers and light freezing rain last night have resulted in a very firm surface.
Some segments of the trail have ice and standing water. If you are planning to ski today then use extreme caution, particularly on any downhill sections. Rock skis are recommended.
There is still plenty of snow for snowshoeing, so that may be the better option.
Our volunteers have been hard at work grooming and re-grooming the main 5km loop and raking the pine cones off the trail.
Currently there are sections that are quite good, and other sections that require caution as they are still quite icy.
We strongly recommend avoiding the Highway Hill/The Wall section of the course (near the Northway), as it is currently hard packed and very fast.
We hope you will get out and enjoy the local skiing and warmer temperatures!
The full 5km course has been groomed for skate skiing. Currently there is not sufficient snow for a classic track.
Conditions are fast with some thin icy spots, but overall they are fairly good considering the recent rain and warm weather. Please watch for pine cones and sticks. We also recommend using caution on downhill sections of the trail.
The remaining snow on the trails and fields has hardened overnight. Conditions are spotty and very icy at the moment.
We will be grooming the fields and some of the trail system later this afternoon.
Please use caution, particularly on downhill sections. Bill Koch Ski League and Adult Learn To Ski Lessons will be held behind Inside Edge beginning at 6:00 PM this evening.
With thinning cover and the rain forecast for tomorrow, grooming has been suspended until we receive additional snow. We would ask that you please refrain from using the trails until they have dried out and hardened.
Thank you for your consideration.
The new snow has just been packed, rolled and groomed for skate and classic skiing, and the coverage is excellent. The snow is soft, but should firm up with cooler temperatures this evening. Don't forget - Bill Koch Ski League and Adult Ski Lessons tonight at 6:00 PM behind Inside Edge. Get out and enjoy the trails!
The snow base survived the warm-up and rain much better than we expected. The base is firm, however the light powdery snow we received was just enough to create conditions that are surprisingly good.
We are currently grooming and working the new snow into the base. With colder temperatures continuing for the next several days, and the opportunity for light snow early next week, conditions will only continue to improve. We hope you will take this opportunity get out and enjoy the trails!
The trails were groomed again last night, and both skating and classic lanes were set. Dress warm and take advantage of the terrific conditions!
A special shout out to all of our volunteer groomers for their time, dedication and expertise in maintaining the trails for all to enjoy.
